2010-2011 Influenza Toolkit
American Nurses Association (ANA) launched the “Bringing Immunity to Every Community” project as part of the two-year cooperative agreement with the Centers for Disease Control & Prevention. This initiative was designed to provide nursing-specific immunization resources and educational tools to the nation’s 3.1 million registered nurses. Among the many educational and advocacy activities conducted under this initiative, ANA has joined the call to action to increase influenza vaccination rates among healthcare workers, particularly nurses.
ANA once again urges all registered nurses to get the seasonal influenza vaccine. Nurses have an ethical obligation not only to protect patients, but also themselves, their families, co-workers and communities from influenza illness. To promote healthy vaccine practices, ANA compiled a 2010 influenza toolkit which includes flies, brochures, 2010-2011 influenza prevention recommendations, best practices and more.
