Experts Discuss Importance of Flu Vaccination for Pregnant Women

Second in a series of ‘Know What to Do About the Flu’ webcasts that will provide tips on staying healthy this flu season

The U.S. Department of Health and Human Services will host the latest in a series of Know What to Do About the Flu webcasts on Wednesday, October 13.  The webcast will focus on the importance of vaccination for pregnant women, including a discussion on vaccine safety and benefits to newborn children. Pregnant women who are infected with influenza virus are at increased risk for severe illness and adverse outcomes.  To prevent influenza infection, pregnant women are encouraged to get vaccinated.
