Surrounding Our Babies with Vaccinated Families The Cocooning Concept

Thursday, April 21 ‐ 12:30 to 1:30 p.m. PT

Immunize Nevada is pleased to host this training via toll‐free web‐conference. This program is pending one nursing CEU. Attendees wishing to obtain a CEU must complete a pre‐ and posttest evaluation.

Featured Presenter:

Karin Szymanski is the Program Coordinator for The Arizona Partnership for Immunization (TAPI), a non‐profit statewide coalition focusing on immunizations across the lifespan. Karin oversees a childcare project, which focuses on education to childcare centers about the importance of ASIIS, Arizona’s immunization registry. She is also working on a pilot program to launch the use of a childcare module, which is linked to ASIIS. The module offers immunization data reports and generated letters for parents of children that are not up‐to‐date with their immunizations. Currently, Karin is working on the Arizona cocooning project. She developed marketing materials, created hospital partnerships and partnered with ADHS to offer education to healthcare providers around cocooning and pertussis. This project is now being expanded to community health centers. These partnerships are being developed despite the challenge of a lack of funds for adult immunizations (for this project, Tdap) within the state.
