Speak Up! The 2011 Virtual Immunization Symposium is a virtual conference where health professionals and communicators can listen and interact with presentations featuring nationally renowned speakers, advocates, coalition leaders and communicators. The Virtual Immunization Symposium will highlight the importance of communicating effectively to help amplify the voice of your organization, convey the importance of your message, and motivate advocates to Speak Up for Immunizations and Public Health.
This free online event will:
- Assist you and your organization with using new media while highlighting the importance of established means of communication
- Foster an interactive learning environment where you can identify and discuss current immunization issues
- Provide resources for using effective communication strategies that prompt social change in support of vaccines
- Encourage partnerships between you and other health communicators, professionals, coalitions, organizations and stakeholders
Andy Goodman– communications consultant specializing in nonprofits, government agencies and educational institutions; Christine Vara—co-editor of Shot of Prevention blog and active member of the blogging community; Paul A. Offit, MD– Chief of the Division of Infectious Diseases and the Director of the Vaccine Education Center at the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia; Seth Mnookin–contributing editor of Vanity Fair and writer whose work appears in several publications including Wired, The New York Times, and The Washington Post. Mnookin is the author of The Panic Virus: A True Story of Medicine, Science, and Fear; and many others.
