We are big fans of Anne Schuchat, MD, Assistant Surgeon General and Director of the CDC’s National Center for Immunization and Respiratory Diseases. Many of you got to know her through her weekly reports during the H1N1 epidemic in 2009.  We not only appreciated her elegant explanation of the facts and forecasts about the H1N1 virus and disease spread, but also for the respect, compassion and sorrow she conveyed when talking about the individuals who had died and the families who lost their loved ones. I think she spoke for many of us.
