Looking Ahead to the Next Flu Season: Vaccine Options and Messages

  Tuesday, April 16, 2013

12:00 noon – 1:00 pm Pacific / 3:00 pm – 4:00 pm Eastern

Some of us wanted to title this next VICNetwork webinar “2013-2014 Flu Season (Already?)”.  Yes, we have barely completed the 2012-2013 influenza season and we’re already looking ahead to next year.  There will be several new influenza vaccination options this year and we want to make sure you have the latest information to inform your planning and decision making.

Please join us for the next VICNetwork Webinar on Tuesday, April 16 which will provide a preview of the flu vaccine options for the 2013-2014 season, a discussion of influenza vaccine effectiveness from this past season and the communication messaging that will help us plan for the year ahead.

We have three terrific speakers who will provide updates: Joseph Bresee, MD, FAAP, Chief, Epidemiology and Prevention Branch, Influenza Division, at the CDC, Lisa Grohskopf, MD, Medical Officer, Influenza Division, NCIRD, and Kris Sheedy, PhD, Associate Director for Communication Science at the CDC (see below)

Webinar objectives:

  • Discuss messaging that responds to concerns about the effectiveness of 2012-2013 influenza vaccine
  • Review the new influenza vaccine options that will be available during the 2013-2014 influenza season
  • Provide an overview of the CDC’s influenza vaccination communication campaign plans for 2013-2014
