National Infant Immunization Week (NIIW) is an annual observance to highlight the importance of protecting infants from vaccine-preventable diseases and celebrate the achievements of immunization programs and their partners in promoting healthy communities. NIIW is taking place from April 21-28, 2018. During this planning webinar, participants will learn about NIIW planning tools, digital communication resources, and CDC activities planned for the week. The Houston Health Department will also share lessons learned from NIIW 2017, including outreach to pregnant women about infant immunization, as well as plans for this year.

Jenny is the lead for childhood immunization communications at NCIRD. In this role, Jenny helps lead efforts to develop research-based messages and materials and to conduct communications activities that raise awareness among parents and healthcare professionals about the importance of vaccinating children according to the CDC’s recommended immunization schedule. Prior to joining NCIRD in 2012, Jenny worked at CDC’s Injury Center, at CDC’s National Center for Health Marketing, and at private sector communications firms. Jenny holds a B.A. in English from Oberlin College, and an M.P.H. in Health Behavior and Health Education from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.
LaTasha Hinckson Callis, MBA
Administration Manager, Houston Health Department
LaTasha Callis has more than 10 years of public health experience and provides leadership and direction of immunization activities throughout Houston and Harris County for the Department. Her programs are responsible for community outreach, immunization assessment of schools and child-care facilities, and the education and training of approximately 500 VFC Providers. She also manages Project Milestone-a partnership with 18 City of Houston WIC sites and Health Centers. The project goals are to increase immunization rates among clients through record screening, education, promoting the use of IIS and conducting service linkage to reduce barriers to care. In addition, LaTasha serves as Co-Chair of the Immunization Coalition of Greater Houston (ICOGH). LaTasha has an MBA in Healthcare Administration from The University of Texas at Tyler and a BA in Spanish from The University of Texas at Austin.
