The Immunization Action Coalition of Washington is hosting the Epidemiology & Prevention of Vaccine-Preventable Diseases Conference presented by immunization experts from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC).

Target Audience: Physicians, nurses, nursing students, medical assistants, pharmacists, and other health professionals who provide immunizations.

Objectives: At the conclusion of the session, the participant will be able to accomplish the following:

  • Describe the difference between active and passive immunity.
  • List two characteristics of live attenuated vaccines.
  • List two characteristics of inactivated vaccines.
  • For each vaccine-preventable disease, identify those for whom routine immunization is recommended.
  • For each vaccine-preventable disease, describe characteristics of the vaccine used to prevent the disease.
  • Describe an emerging immunization issue.

Pink Book Course

Tacoma, Washington

September 27 and 28, 2011

The Immunization Action Coalition of Washington, Washington State Department of Health, and the National Network for Immunization Nurses and Associates are sponsoring a two-day CDC course on the Epidemiology and Prevention of Vaccine-Preventable Diseases in Tacoma, Washington on September 27 & 28, 2011. The course, commonly known as the “Pink Book course”, is presented by faculty from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention – National Center for Immunization and Respiratory Diseases.

Private and public health professionals will come together to learn and share important immunization information. It will be an opportunity to network and share ideas on how to better protect our communities from vaccine-preventable diseases.

Register now to hear about the principles of vaccination and current immunization recommendations. Have your questions answered by national vaccine experts during the interactive sessions. Continuing education credits will be available for multiple professions.
