Know What to Do About the Flu

On Tuesday, September 28th, U.S. Department of  Health and Human Services Secretary Kathleen Sebelius will kickoff the first in a series of Know What to Do About the Flu’ webcasts. Sebelius will be joined by HHS Assistant Secretary for Health, Dr. Howard Koh and Dr. Anne Schuchat from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. The program will include a review of last year’s pandemic, a look ahead at the upcoming flu season, and tips on staying healthy.

Epidemiology and Prevention of Vaccine-Preventable Diseases

Presented by: the Nevada Immunization Coalition, the California Department of Public Health Immunization Branch, Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, and the National Center for Immunization and Respiratory Diseases

Join the internationally recognized immunization powerhouse for the most current vaccine information, patient education, tools and proven techniques for increasing immunization rates. In addition, learn how to improve public health as a whole by promoting collaboration and partnerships in the fight against vaccine-preventable diseases.

The program on Wednesday and Thursday is presented by CDC’s National Center for Immunization and Respiratory Diseases. This comprehensive two-day course covers the principles of vaccination, vaccine-preventable diseases and the vaccines that prevent them, and provides the most current recommendations and answers from our nation’s vaccination experts.

On Friday, plenary sessions and concurrent sessions presented by both local and national experts will feature information and updates on vaccination strategies and advances including immunization registries, school requirements, and communicating with parents.
