ANA Immunize Influenza Toolkit

2010-2011 Influenza Toolkit

American Nurses Association (ANA) launched the “Bringing Immunity to Every Community” project as part of the two-year cooperative agreement with the Centers for Disease Control & Prevention. This initiative was designed to provide nursing-specific immunization resources and educational tools to the nation’s 3.1 million registered nurses. Among the many educational and advocacy activities conducted under this initiative, ANA has joined the call to action to increase influenza vaccination rates among healthcare workers, particularly nurses.

ANA once again urges all registered nurses to get the seasonal influenza vaccine. Nurses have an ethical obligation not only to protect  patients, but also themselves, their families, co-workers and communities from influenza illness. To promote healthy vaccine practices, ANA compiled a 2010 influenza toolkit which includes flies, brochures, 2010-2011 influenza prevention recommendations, best practices and more. For more information on ANA please visit www.anaimmunize.org

Study on Exposure to Thimerosal: Not Associated With Increased Risk of Autism

CDC is publishing a study that adds to the evidence that prenatal and early-life exposure to ethylmercury from thimerosal in vaccines or immunoglobulin products does not increase a child’s risk of developing autism. This study found that exposure to thimerosal during pregnancy and in young children was not associated with an increased risk of autism spectrum disorder (ASD) or two subtypes of ASD – autistic disorder and ASD with regression.

The full report can be accessed here: Study on Exposure to Thimerosal.
